2012 Hope Gala Honorees: All kids and teens with type 1
For 2012, the Piedmont Triad Chapter is doing something different. Instead of honoring a business or community leader with our Hope Gala, we will be dedicating this year’s Gala to all children and teens who have type 1 diabetes.
Of course, every Hope Gala is focused on finding a cure so kids (and adults) never again have to hear a diagnosis of type 1. Every year, we put kids with type 1 front and center at the Hope Gala so our guests understand what we’re fighting for—what we’re raising funds and sponsoring research for. Every year, our goal is to raise funds to find a cure and to help improve life with diabetes for the 3 million people across the US (babies through seniors) who have this disease.
But this year, we’re being explicit: We’re honoring the kids who live every day with type 1—and who fight every day to have “normal” lives like all their friends.
Please join us in saluting these young people. They’re a shining example to us all.

2011 Hope Gala update: The 2011 Piedmont Triad Hope Gala, honoring Winston-Salem business leader, civic giant, and philanthropist Paul Fulton (whose grandson, Stephen Saye of Pinehurst, was diagnosed with type 1 in 2008), broke all local records and raised over $1 million! We’re excited at the prospect of repeating that success in 2012.
