Blanton Vogler Annual Golf Tournament
Golfers Tee It Up to Cure Diabetes
The first Friday in May is always a red-letter day for JDRF supporters—and golfers—in the Piedmont Triad. That’s when approximately 200 golfers hit the links for the annual Blanton Vogler Memorial Golf Tournament.
Every year, this event is led by a dedicated group of volunteers who were high school friends of Blanton “Bluty” Vogler, who was diagnosed with type 1 at the age of 12 and died in his early 30′s. Blanton’s friends decided in 2000 to honor their friendship by hosting a golf tournament to benefit JDRF. In 2011, the Tournament and After Party raised over $50,000 to help JDRF find a cure!
JDRF Piedmont Triad Board member Danny Mensh, will be back again in 2012 to chair the tournament organizing committee. With Danny’s enthusiastic leadership, new corporate sponsors and new foursomes are clamoring to participate in this great event.
For more information on the 2012 Blanton Vogler Memorial Golf Tournament, taking place on Friday, May 4, please e-mail JDRF Development Manager Mitzi Ellis.
